This year marks the 40th anniversary of the annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, also known as the Human Rights Report (HRR). The Human Rights Report is the world’s most authoritative, comprehensive and factual report of the global state of human rights.
The HRRs are used by the Department of State and other U.S. Government agencies to shape American foreign policy and by Congress in its determination and allocation of foreign aid and security sector assistance. They help promote awareness of the human rights abuses and violations committed over the past year and they also identify where and when human rights are well protected.
