Event: Independence Square Demonstration on October 27, 2023.
A demonstration is scheduled to be held at Independence Square in downtown Paramaribo, near the Presidential Palace, on Friday October 27, starting at approximately 4:00 PM. The demonstration will be in solidarity with Palestine and is expected to be peaceful; the size of the demonstration is unknown. The U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo anticipates a police presence in the demonstration area. No road closures have been planned but that is subject to change.
The U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo recommends individuals avoid the area, consider alternate routes, and follow all traffic rules and regulations.
