The Government of Suriname has announced that a lockdown will be in place in Suriname from Saturday, May 8 at 5pm until Monday, May 10 at 5am. Prior to the lockdown, nightly curfews continue to be in effect from 8pm to 5am. During the curfew and lockdown periods, all individuals are instructed to remain in their homes unless otherwise granted dispensation by Surinamese authorities. Police may detain or fine people who do not abide by curfew and lockdown regulations. It is mandatory to wear face masks in public. Gatherings are limited to five people.
