The Government of Suriname has announced that an extended total lockdown will be in place nationwide from Friday, January 29 at 7pm until Monday, February 1 at 5am, and again from Friday, February 5 at 7pm until Monday, February 8 at 5am. During these weekend lockdowns, only specific groups of people with permission will be allowed on the streets. All shops will be closed. In addition to the weekend lockdowns, a nightly curfew remains in place from 7pm to 5am. It is mandatory to wear face masks in public. Gatherings are limited to five people. Only one person per family at a time is allowed into supermarkets or stores for shopping.
