On Tuesday, 20 November 2018, Karen L. Williams officially began her tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Suriname after presenting her Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Desiré Delano Bouterse. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace.
The credentialing ceremony dates back to the eighteenth century and maintains traditions that have remained virtually the same to this day.
Following the ceremony, Ambassador Williams and the President held a brief meeting.
